March 2026 BOE Recognitions
The March 2026 Board of Education meeting brought many recognitions and wonderful performances by our talented student musicians.
Terryville students, Arianna, Winter, and Sadie opened up the meeting with their beautiful NYSSMA violin piece “Maricona” as part of the “Music in Our Schools” month celebration. The 5th grade chorus at Terryville then performed the enchanting verses of “Start Your Day with a Tune” to further celebrate “Music in Our Schools.”
Terryville student Katie Bolado was honored for presenting to the Town of Brookhaven her celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day by sharing her inspiring words about what Dr. King would do if he was still here today. Rebecca Kassay, our local assemblywoman, worked for and secured a $48,000 grant for the district’s music program, a school store at High School and the continuation of the peer-mediation program. A big congratulations also goes to John F. Kennedy Middle School teacher Xanthia Zoe , who was granted tenure in the subject area of English.
