Good Evening JFK Families, Thank you to our staff and students for a great Mental Health Awareness week. We are looking forward to continuing what we have learned for the rest of the year.

Coming up, this coming week JFK students will showcase their musical talents in our Spring concerts. Please join us for the 6th Grade Spring Concert in the Joseph V. Rella Auditorium at Comsewogue High School on Monday, May 19th at 7:00 pm. You are also invited to join us for the 7th and 8th Grade Spring Concert in the Joseph V. Rella Auditorium at Comsewogue High School on Wednesday, May 21st at 7:00 pm.

Our JFK artists have artwork on display at the One River Art Gallery with a reception and viewing in their honor on May 22nd from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Don’t forget that the School Budget Vote and Board of Education Elections are on Tuesday, May 20th from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm in the Comsewogue High School gymnasium. 8th Grade families, the JFK PTSA has reopened the site to purchase an 8th grade lawn sign. Please check the email sent earlier this week and the flyer sent home with your student for more information. All orders are due by May 21, 2025.

The 2024-2025 JFK Yearbook is now on sale. The 7th grade field trip to Top Golf will be on Thursday, May 15th. Join us this Friday, May 9th and Saturday, May 10th for Warrior Weekend! Friday 5/9 at 6:00 PM: Varsity Girls Lacrosse Senior Game Saturday 5/10 at 10:30 AM: Color Fun Run on the CHS Track Saturday 5/10 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM: Community Resource Fair, Craft Fair, Interactive Learning Fun Stations, Joe's Day of Service Learning Celebration and Northwell Health Food Distribution Event (ends at 1pm). This coming week JFK will host our Mental Health Awareness Week. Throughout the week students will be involved in activities to highlight the importance of mental health as well as learn strategies to support their own mental health. Good Evening JFK Families, This is Dr. Prinz with our weekly update. Coming up, the New York State Math Assessments will take place on Tuesday, April 29th and Wednesday, April 30th. Assessments will be given during the first two hours of the school day after which students will attend their period 1 through 9 classes based on a two hour delay schedule. Please ensure that your child’s chromebook is fully charged for these assessments.

For the safety of our students, please make sure to drop off and pick up your child using the front entrance pick up line. Cars are not permitted to use the turn from Jayne Boulevard to the JFK back parking lot as a drop off and pick up point. Though this may take a bit longer, it ensures that our students remain safe and the lane is clear for our buses to safely pass.

Your child’s 3rd Quarter Grades will be available via SchoolTool on April 26, 2025. Paper copies of your child’s report card will be mailed next week. The 2024-2025 JFK Yearbook is now on sale. Please use the QR code found on the information sent home with your student from homeroom, on your student’s google classroom, or posted on the JFK Facebook and Instagram pages. Attention 7th grade families! The 7th Grade Field Trip permission slips went home yesterday. Please note that there is a due date of May 1st for this trip. Permission slips should be turned into your child’s Social Studies teacher. On Friday, May 2nd, our 8th grade students will have the opportunity to learn about various career paths as they participate in our first 8th Grade Career Connections Day.

Good Evening JFK Families, this is Dr. Prinz with our weekly update. Coming up, there will be no school for students beginning on Friday, April 11th. School will resume on Tuesday, April 22nd for the spring recess. SEPTA's Annual Egg Hunt is being moved to April 19th due to the predicted weather.

When we return, the JFK PTSA Book fair will be held on Thursday, April 24th and Friday, April 25th. Secondary 3rd Quarter Grades will be available via school tool on April 26th. JFK would like to wish all who celebrate a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter. We hope you have a wonderful Spring Break and look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Coming up, on Monday, April 7th, JFK is excited to host our annual St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser for childhood cancer research during x time! The New York State ELA Assessments will take place on Monday, April 7th and Tuesday, April 8th. Assessments will be given during the first two hours of the school day after which students will attend their period 1 through 9 classes based on a two hour delay schedule. Please ensure that your child’s chromebook is fully charged for these assessments.

Join us on Wednesday, April 9th for the JFK Interactive Art Show. The show will run from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at JFK. Come out to see student art work and participate in interactive art experiences. There will be no school for students beginning on Friday, April 11th. Good Evening JFK Families, This is Dr. Prinz calling a day earlier for our weekly update as some important announcements are scheduled for tomorrow.

Coming up, tomorrow, March 21st, the Comsewogue School District will engage in a state required test for the purpose of evaluating our emergency evacuation procedures. This means that all students will be dismissed 15 minutes earlier than their normal dismissal time. All students will be dismissed at 1:49 pm. Please join us tomorrow, March 21st as we wear mismatched and/or crazy socks in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day.

The JFK Drama Club will be sharing “Something Rotten Jr.” on Friday, March 21st and Saturday, March 22nd at 7:00 pm in the JFK Auditorium. On Friday, March 28th our 6th grade students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of careers from local community members as they participate in our first 6th Grade Career Connections Day.

Please note that school will be closed on Monday, March 31st. Information regarding the upcoming New York State assessments was sent home last week.Please reach out to your school counselor or myself with any questions.

The JFK Senior Citizen’s Dinner and Show will be held on Wednesday, March 19th beginning at 4:30 pm. This show is available and free for the senior citizens of our community. Senior Citizens should RSVP by contacting the JFK Main Office. The JFK Drama Club will be sharing “Something Rotten Jr.” on Friday, March 21st and Saturday, March 22nd at 7:00 pm in the JFK Auditorium.

The JFK PTSA March Pretzel orders will be passed out during lunches on March 13th. This is a pre-order event only.

The JFK Senior Citizen’s Dinner and Show will be held on Wednesday, March 19th beginning at 4:30 pm. This show is available and free for the senior citizens of our community. Senior Citizens should RSVP by contacting the JFK Main Office. The JFK Drama Club will be sharing “Something Rotten Jr.” on Friday, March 21st and Saturday, March 22nd at 7:00 pm in the JFK Auditorium.

The week of February 10th to 14th has been designated as Random Acts of Kindness Week. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in this week-long event!

Monday, February 10th: Today is Empathy Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear RED or PINK to show that JFK has a heart!
Tuesday, February 11th: Today is True to You Day. Wear your favorite shirt that is special to you!
Wednesday, February 12th: Today is Dream of Kindness Day. Wear your pajamas or your comfiest clothes!
Thursday, February 13th: Today is Kindness is a Bright Idea Day. Wear neon or bright colors!
Friday, February 14th: Today is P.S. I Love You Day. Wear Purple or your P.S. I Love You shirt to show we are united in kindness!

The JFK PTSA Lollipop Sale will be during lunch periods on February 10th and 11th. Our 6th graders will be attending a field trip to the Long Island Nets Education Day on February 11th. We will be celebrating friendship and kindness at the JFK Friendship Dance on February 13th. Tickets will be on sale beginning Monday during homerooms. Don’t forget that students must have a completed permission slip in order to purchase a ticket. School will be closed for Mid-Winter Recess, February 17 - February 21. Coming up, JFK will be sharing our love of music at the Dickens Festival on Saturday, December 7th. You can hear our students play at the First Presbyterian Church on Main Street, Port Jefferson from 2:15 to 3:00 pm. The district wide “No Place for Hate” kickoff event will be at the Comsewogue High School Basketball game on Monday, December 9th beginning at 6:15 in the Comsewogue High School gymnasium. Artwork from our JFK Students will be on display at the One River School of Art from December 6-20. A reception in our participating student’s honor will be held at the One River School of Art on December 17th from 4:30 to 5:30pm.

JFK winter concerts will be held this week in the Joseph V. Rella auditorium at Comsewogue High School. Our 6th grade concert will be on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 pm and our 7th and 8th grade concert will be on Thursday, December 12th at 7:00 pm. We cannot wait to share what our students have been preparing for you.The PTSA Holiday Boutique will be at JFK on Friday, December 13th during your child’s lunch period.

This is Dr. Prinz with a very early weekly message as school will be closed for students beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, November 27th and re-open on Monday, December 2nd for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Coming up, many sweatshirts, jackets and other items have been collected in the lost and found during our first quarter. Please take a moment during parent teacher conferences to stop by the cafeteria and look at the lost and found. We will be donating any unclaimed items next week. JFK will host the 6th Grade Guidance Night in the JFK Auditorium on Thursday, December 5th at 6:30pm. This informational meeting is for our current 6th grade families and will share important information about 7th and 8th grade at JFK. Artwork from our JFK Students will be on display at the One River School of Art from December 6-20. A reception in our participating student’s honor will be held at the One River School of Art on December 17th from 4:30 to 5:30pm. JFK will be sharing our love of music at the Dickens Festival on Saturday, December 7th. Good evening JFK Families, this is Dr. Prinz with our weekly message. This week all of JFK joined together to learn about and sign our No Place for Hate Pledge. Students spent time in each of their classes learning about ways that middle school students can treat everyone with respect and kindness and stand up for others in a positive way. The lessons culminated in students and staff signing a large banner with the pledge which is now displayed in JFK as a reminder of our commitment to respect and show kindness to all.

Coming up, parent teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 26th and Wednesday, November 27th. Conference sign up directions have been shared and are also available on the scrolling banner of the website.n School will be closed for students beginning on Wednesday, November 27th and

This is Dr. Prinz with our weekly message. Due to a district wide internet outage that prevented grade submissions during the last day of quarter 1 grading, quarter 1 report cards for JFK will be delayed by one day. Report cards for secondary students will be available Saturday morning, November 16, 2024. A paper copy of your child's report card will also be mailed home in the coming week. Thank you for your understanding as we ensure that grades are successfully posted.

Coming up, on November 18th JFK will kick off our participation in No Place for Hate. We excited to work with our students to learn positive skills for interacting together and practice kindness for all. On Monday, November 18th, our 8th grade class will have the opportunity to explore electives offered at the high school in preparation for their 9th grade course selections. The elective fair will be available to 8th grade students during their lunch periods. The JFK Fall Food Drive has begun. We are collecting gift cards to Shoprite and Ideal Food Basket which will be used for families in need this Thanksgiving. Any amount is greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the main office or the social work office.

Coming up, there will be no school on Monday, November 11th in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you to all of our Veterans for their service to our country. The JFK National Jr. Honor Society is selling pies which will be available for pick up during parent teacher conferences. This coming week, JFK will be celebrating a Week of Gratitude. Students are encouraged to participate through their clothing selections as well as with activities that we will host during lunch periods this week. showing our spirit. Thank you to our student council for a wonderful Fall Dance last
night!

Coming up, 7th and 8th grade band students and those marching with the JFK Student Council, please meet at JFK on Saturday, October 26th at 11:30 am for the homecoming parade. We will step off at 12:00 pm and stay together until we reach Comsewogue High School. After the parade will be our homecoming carnival and football game. We cannot wait to see you there!

On Thursday, October 31st, JFK students are invited to wear costumes to school. Please remember that for safety, costumes may not include masks or full face paint, any type of toy weapon or be a “blow” up costume. Costumes must also adhere to our dress code policy and include safe footwear. The JFK PTSA will be selling lollipops during lunch periods this Monday, October 28th and Tuesday, October 29th. Parent teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 26th and Wednesday, November 27th. Coming up, on Wednesday, October 16th, all students are invited to wear Orange as part of our district wide Unity Day. Our students will participate in activities that encourage everyone to join together, support one another and unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying. There will be no x-time this Wednesday, October 16th as teachers will be participating in a building wide faculty meeting.

Good Evening JFK Families, This is Dr. Prinz calling to share information about the coming week. JFK enjoyed celebrating new connections during Start with Hello Week and we are looking forward to watching these connections grow throughout the year.

Coming up, this week JFK students will meet with our technology team to learn about digital agenda tools being used this year at JFK. By helping our students understand and use these tools, JFK students will gain life long time and task management skills that will carry throughout their school careers and beyond.

This Friday, September 27th all students are invited to wear gold for pediatric cancer awareness. We are collecting gift cards for Stony Brook Children’s Hospital in the main office. Any collected gift cards will be delivered to the Children’s Oncology department. We wish you and your family a wonderful weekend together.

Good Evening JFK Families, This is Dr. Prinz calling to share information about the coming week. We are excited that our students will continue to be offered free breakfast and lunch. However, please continue to complete the Household Income Eligibility From which can be found on the district website or you may request a paper form from the JFK Main Office.

Coming up, our first JFK PTSA meeting will be held in the JFK library on September 16th at 6:30pm, right before Back to School Night. JFK Back to School Night will begin at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 16th. All parents will begin the evening in the auditorium for a brief message from our administrative team before following your student’s A day schedule. Please see the detailed information shared with your student during homeroom and available on the JFK scrolling banner and virtual backpack.

This week, students will have the opportunity to view information for the various clubs JFK has to offer. Clubs are a great way for our students to make connections and build community!  The week of September 16th is our Start with Hello Week. This week will be filled with activities to help our students get to know each other in a positive way and encourage connections between our students. Some highlights of the week include an introduction to the JFK game closet, pictures with buddies and wearing green on Wednesday for Sandy Hook’s promise.

On Tuesday, our students will hear Mr. Mark Leinweaver present Why Character Matters. This presentation shares with our students real life examples on the importance of demonstrating character at school, at home and when using social media.

In the coming week students will meet with our technology team to learn about digital agenda tools being used this year at JFK. By helping our students understand and use these tools, JFK students will gain life long time and task management skills that will carry throughout their school careers and beyond. Our classes were able to spend the first two days learning about each other through collaborative activities such as tower building, games, and the creation of positive messages for the school year. Coming Up, on September 12th and 13th students will share their smiles during JFK Picture Days. Please join us on September 16th for JFK’s Back to School Night.
